Ezequiel
Jiménez, is
a New York based artist and cultural activist. He has born in the Dominican
Republic. Mr. Jimenez began painting at the age of 12, finding in art
a mode of self-expression that was free of the censorship of conventional
thought and opinion.
In 1995, Mr. Jiménez attended the Art Students League of New York.
1998-2007 Jimenez studied digital arts and digital design at the City
University of New York/Bronx Community College-Lehman College. And also
took painting classes with prof. Rosidalia García at the Casa de
Arte in Santiago.
A major figure of the “Caribbean Baroque” school, his art
wrestles with the fundamental conflicts of the human spirit. For Jimenez,
art and the artist are embedded in everyday life: in the suffering, aspirations
and triumphs of humankind. Art provokes, nourishes and stretches the imagination,
revealing the landscape of human possibility.
Jimenez is a founding member and the president of the Alliance of Dominican
American Visual Artists, Inc. based in New York City. He has appeared
in over 20 television and radio shows. And his art is widely reviewed
in New York and DR press.
