Ezequiel Jiménez y su obraEZEQUIEL JIMENEZ | ARTIST-ACTIVIST
is a New York based artist and activist born in the Dominican Republic. He began painting when he was around 12, finding in art a mode of self-expression that was free of the censorship of conventional thought and opinion. In 1995, Mr. Jiménez attended the Art Students League of New York. He took painting classes with prof. Rosi García at Casa de Arte in Santiago (1989). For Mr. Jiménez, art and the artist are embedded in everyday life: in the suffering, aspirations and triumphs of humankind. His art provokes, nourishes and stretches the imagination, revealing the landscape of human possibility; His art wrestles with the fundamental conflicts of the human spirit.

During the last fifteen years Mr. Jiménez has shared his career of artist with activism, which he conceives is a modest contribution to encourage the visual arts. Beginning as a community activist has allowed Mr. Jiménez to collaborate with cultural and academic institutions, as well individual persons through promoting local artists by organizing art exhibits in other places including Low East side and uptown Manhattan, Bronx, New Jersey and Rhode Island.
