Ezequiel Jiménez is a true versatile artist, which unfolds in diverse fields: In the arts (painter, sketcher, digital artist, and media web design), in the social sciences (political scientist) and activist. He holds an A.A.S. in Digital Arts, Bronx Community College; B.A., in Art and Political Science (Expected May 2010), Lehman College of The City University of New York. Furthermore Mr. Jimenez has been awarded a number of professional certificates such as Peer Community, Columbia University; Graphic Design, Web and Desk Top Publishing, Lehman College of The City University of New York.
At an early age Mr. Jiménez participated in what would be called community activism through the church with his father, who has been a religious leader for over 40 years. During the last fifteen years Mr. Jiménez has shared his career of artist with cultural activism, which he conceives is a modest contribution to encourage the visual arts. Beginning as a community activist has allowed Mr. Jiménez to collaborate with cultural and academic institutions, as well individual persons through promoting local artists by organizing art exhibits in New York Lower East Side and Upper West Side Manhattan and The Bronx, as well as New Jersey and Rhode Island.
Mr. Jiménez has contributed in establishing the Alliance of Dominican American Visual Artists, Inc., a non-profit 501(c) (3) visual art organization in the beautiful surroundings of northern Manhattan. The Alliance was founded with the purpose of promoting the visual arts through art exhibitions, workshops and conferences; such as offers opportunities and motivations for young and emerging artists to help them to develop their talent.
Mr. Jiménez' cultural activism is framed with the purpose of contributing to enlarge the quality of life in the community, by extensive collaboration of free activities in the community. He has also been an invited guest lecturer on the arts and to present his own autobiography in various academic institutions. |
